Doctors Express bridges the gap between a costly trip to an overcrowded emergency room and waiting to see your primary care physician.
Lake Oswego, OR (Vocus/PRWEB) March 15, 2011
As the national average wait time for an emergency room visit reaches more than four hours and family practitioners become increasingly overloaded, Doctors Express is a welcome alternative for patients in need of urgent care.
Doctors Express, a national group of independently owned urgent care facilities, will open in Lake Oswego on March 21. The new state-of-the-art facility, located at 17437 Boones Ferry Rd., will provide patient-friendly urgent care with an average wait time of just 20 minutes. A physician will treat every Doctors Express patient in order to ensure the highest-quality care.
Dr. Kelly Leaf, with 14 years of medical experience in emergency and urgent care, family practice, and occupational medicine will serve as medical director for the Doctors Express of Lake Oswego facility. Assisting Dr. Leaf is Ray Augustine, M.D., a long-time Lake Oswego resident with more than 25 years of experience in the medical profession.
“Doctors Express bridges the gap between a costly trip to an overcrowded emergency room and waiting to see your primary care physician,” explained Dr. Leaf. “You don’t need an appointment. We take most forms of health insurance. And we’re equipped with the necessary equipment and experienced doctors to effectively treat non-life threatening, yet urgent injuries and illnesses.”
Unlike many other urgent care facilities, Doctors Express of Lake Oswego features digital x-ray equipment, a laboratory that meets CLIA standards and a pharmacy on-site to provide comprehensive care for patients while they wait. Doctors Express accepts most forms of health insurance and the average out-of-pocket cost for self-pay patients is approximately $125 – an affordable solution as compared to the national average cost of an emergency room visit, which is approximately $475.
“Patients who visit Doctors Express won’t be sent all over town for x-rays or labs, or have to pay extreme out-of-pocket costs for a trip to the ER in the case of a non-life-threatening, yet urgent, injury or illness,” said Dr. Leaf. “People often assume there is a decrease in the quality of care when they hear the term ‘urgent care.’ Doctors Express hopes to change that perception by offering high-quality urgent care from experienced physicians 362 days per year.”
Doctors Express treats urgent medical needs ranging from acute illness, such as the flu or pneumonia, to broken bones, cuts, burns, rashes, bites and more. The Lake Oswego center will also offer occupational health services, sports physicals, travel medicine and vaccinations.
The local Doctors Express team plans to open four additional urgent care facilities in the Portland-Metro area in the next five years.
