New book to be featured at the 2011 New York State Reading Association Book Exhibit

From a man whose mind is inspired by Edgar Alan Poe, whose heart is touched by the people around him, and whose being is influenced by travels and military tour of duties around the globe, comes an anthology that blends a bit of dark and positive poetry. In his newly published book, Black Rose, poet-author Frederick Jones offers everyone a different book of poems and short stories.

Drawing from his experiences in his combat tours, he gives readers a glimpse of what it is like to be a soldier and in the midst of a war. In “War”, he writes, “The atrocities one must face while in the range of the enemy / The pain that one feels watching their brethren suffer! / Such a nightmarish sight… / Despair and agony doesn’t seem fair.” And in “Sacrifice”, he says, “Days are long and never ending / So that the enemies of the earth / Will surrender / Sacrifices are made by all / To ensure serenity to those who reside on this great ball / Our Eagle always prevails / And our opponents shall set sail.” He also calls to mind the ladies who have moved him in their own ways as he pens down the poems “Jaylinn,” “Kim,” “Tiffanie,” “Jen,” and more. Adding to these themes are those of nature, seasons, and life.

“I write primarily poetry and short stories and was inspired at a very young age by Edgar Alan Poe. Later in life I became deeply inspired by my favorite love metal band H.I.M! a lot of my writings are a bit dark, but with a positive light, or ending. I am an optimist after all. But, I write about how I feel, and it may not always have the same setting or theme. In any event, I am hopeful you find my writings much enjoyable, and, stay tuned for more of my writings, or, shall we say banters,” candidly reveals the author.

This book will be featured at the 2011 New York State Reading Association Book Exhibit in Saratoga Springs, NY on April 3-5, 2011.
