Guidance Group Digital's new website,, teaches kids lifelong social skills.

Autism affects nearly 1 out of every 110 children, and by definition, every child diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum has problems in their social development. While there are many tools available to help children with their social problems, most of these are expensive and hard to find, making them irrelevant to parents and even many professionals.

Child psychologist Dr. Lawrence Shapiro, Ph.D. hopes to change that by providing hundreds of innovative tools and techniques via a low cost membership site. Membership on gives parents and professionals access to hundreds of videos, downloads, and other interactive tools, which can be used to teach dozens of skills like handling social anxiety, calling a friend on the phone, dealing with secrets, social manners, and so much more. The site features tools and techniques for children ages 3 to 18.

Dr. Shapiro, a nationally renowned author and parenting expert, has teamed up with Super Kids, LLC, a Connecticut based clinic that specializes in social skills groups, to develop the materials on the site. Besides the interactive tools, the site offers webinars and e-courses, as well as parent coaching provided by the Super Kids therapists for an extra fee. There is even a store that sells games, videos, and workbooks. Membership to is just $14.95/month and the first 30 days are free. The Connecticut based company adds new tools to the site every other week.

“Teaching children social skills is not an easy process,” explains Dr. Shapiro, “and it is only effective when a specific skill is practiced over and over again. We hope that this site makes it easy for parents, teachers, and counselors to have access to state of the art tools that are really fun for kids and teens to use. When tools are as simple as watching a video or playing a game, we know from experience that children, and the adults who care for them, will be motivated to tackle the social problems that have made their lives so hard.”

Guidance Group Digital is a sister company of The Guidance Group, one of the nation’s largest publishers and distributors of counseling materials, The Guidance Group also publishes popular catalogs of products addressing the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of children and teens, including: Childswork/Childsplay, At-Risk Resources, and Courage to Change.
