‘The Failed Plans of Matilda and the Nurse That Caused Unhappiness’ to be featured at the 2011 Association of College and Research Libraries Book Exhibit

In the land of Oz lives Matilda, the prettiest girl that the people of Oz have ever seen. Born into a rich family, this beautiful and kindhearted young lady has everything she could ever ask, but still she is sad. Young readers will discover why as author Betty Jean Lathan brings a delightful tale of family, friendship, and love in The Failed Plans of Matilda and the Nurse That Caused Unhappiness, her newly published picture book made available through Xlibris.

As Matilda turns thirteen, the time also arrives for her to marry. While her parents are excited about the arrangement they have made on whom their young daughter would wed, Matilda is eager to learn more about a young gentleman she has met. His name is Lucious, smart, nice, but unfortunately, he is just a boy who works on her father’s vast fields—they just couldn’t be together. When Matilda finds out about the marriage, she makes plans to run away. Though she has never disobeyed her father before, she simply could not marry a stranger for she and Lucious have already fallen in love. But how will this love defy the norms?

Lush with vibrant illustrations from page to page, The Failed Plans of Matilda and the Nurse That Caused Unhappiness is a delightful tale about true love, perseverance, principles, and family. It will surely hook readers both young and old.

This book will be featured at the 2011 Association of College and Research Libraries Book Exhibit in Philadelphia, PA on April 7-10, 2011.
