A recent report from Horwarth HTL, the world’s largest hospitality consultancy firm, has added further evidence to the case supporting the revival of the global tourism industry. The company polled hoteliers and found that a majority were optimistic about the prospects of the market. Alex Francis of Travelmatch.co.uk comments: “Hoteliers are very well placed to chart trends in the industry as they are among the first to see surges in bookings. We read this report with great interest and were pleased to see rising optimism from these very informed sources.”
The report by Horwarth HTL found that 60% of hoteliers expected occupancy to be higher in 2011 than in 2010, while 30% believed it would remain at similar levels. Additionally, 68% of respondents predicted that revenue would increase in 2010. The survey gathered responses from 1,974 individuals in 53 countries; 42% of respondents were from Europe.
Francis believes that strength in the hotel sector will be borne out across the rest of the market. He comments: “The travel industry is highly connected and growth in hotel bookings will be reflected in the flight market as well. We expect many more people to venture to Europe and other destinations this year, as people are clearly interested in travelling once again.”
Francis concludes that this report is yet another piece of evidence that shows strength is returning to the travel market. He states: “We have seen many different reports and indicators this year and the overwhelming majority have pointed to a significant recovery of the industry. This is fantastic news as travel is a crucial part of our customers’ lives, and we are very pleased at Travelmatch.co.uk to see people taking the opportunity to go abroad and enjoy themselves on much needed holidays.”
