Signature “Thoroughbred Bag” to benefit horse rescue efforts

Jill Milan, a new luxury fashion brand, today announced the launch of its company and inaugural product line – a collection of handbags created entirely of leather-free materials.

“We’re excited to announce our company and first collection, the Spring/Summer 2011 line,” said Jill Fraser, the company’s chief executive officer. “The collection combines luxurious style with the highest quality of design and construction, and does so without using animal-based materials.”

Fraser was inspired to found Jill Milan when she was unable to find high-quality, luxury handbags that were not made of leather or other animal-based materials. She is a supporter of animal welfare initiatives, in particular programs opposing horse slaughter.

The company’s launch coincides with Jill Milan’s participation as one of the sponsors of The 25th Anniversary Genesis Awards, held here March 19. The Genesis Awards, presented by The Humane Society of the United States, are awarded annually to individuals in the major news and entertainment media for producing outstanding works which raise public awareness of animal issues.

Jill Milan’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection was made in Florence, Italy, by artisans who have a heritage of crafting the best luxury accessories in the world. The chains on Jill Milan’s bags are handmade by a Florentine craftsman and the beads used on many of the handbags are blown by artisans in Italy’s famed Murano. Highlighting the inaugural Jill Milan line are an evening clutch in a range of colors and the company’s signature “Thoroughbred Bag,” available in both linen and faux leather, and replete with equestrian-themed adornments. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the Thoroughbred Bag go to support programs that rescue horses.

Jill Milan’s Spring/Summer 2011 product line was photographed by renowned fashion and celebrity photographer Lance Staedler and can be seen online at http://www.JillMilan.com. All products are available from the company’s fully e-commerce-enabled website, which was designed by De Facto Design of Nottingham, England. De Facto has been recognized with numerous awards across a wide range of media, including web design, music and advertising. Accolades include Outstanding Music Website by the Worldwide Web Awards; Best Art Direction in Worldwide Advertising by Lead Awards; and Best Advert - Worldwide Advertising in the MusikExpress Style Awards.
