Signature Senior Lifestyle has made a raft of appointments as the company proceeds with major expansion plans over the next few years.

The company is developing a new concept in care homes with nursing by creating communities where residents have their own individual apartments with care available as and when needed through individual “bespoke” care plans. Signature currently runs three homes, with another due to open later this year. A further three new developments at Bushey, Epsom and Brentwood are awaiting planning approval, with expected construction starts within the next year. Several additional projects are in earlier stages of development.

Penny West is the new Operations Director for the South of England, having joined from the private hospital sector. Her general managerial skills and wide range of operations and healthcare experience, including overseeing new property openings, will support Signature’s major new development programme in the South.

Penny will focus on supporting the operation of Signature’s existing community at Herne Bay, Kent, which includes a 24 unit expansion project currently under construction, and on recruiting and supporting high quality teams for the new communities under development. She will also help in further developing processes and programmes to support “The Signature Way” of providing excellent and bespoke personalised care and services to residents.

Two new Home General Managers have been appointed. Creenagh Williamson is the General Manager of Moorlands Lodge, a 97 unit property currently under construction at Hindhead, Surrey. It is planned to open in the autumn.

Creenagh has come to Signature from an acute nursing environment as the matron of emergency services at a large general hospital. Prior to becoming a nurse, Creenagh trained as a project manager in the construction industry, where she developed an in depth knowledge and understanding of management. She has a keen interest in teaching and person development.

Tina Thomas has joined Signature as General Manager of The Miramar home at Beltinge, near Herne Bay on the Kent coast. Tina is a registered nurse and has a wide range of experience within the health and social care industries, spanning a period of more than thirty years. Tina has worked in care homes, hospitals, domiciliary care and nursing agencies.

For five years she was a regulatory inspector for the NCSC/CSCI, the predecessors of the Care Quality Commission, before working in the private care home sector as a business development manager and then as head of quality assurance for another care home operator.

The fourth appointment is Sadie Barker, who joins as Corporate Human Resources Manager. Sadie is an HR generalist with a successful track record of delivering results in multi–site care home operations. Her strategic focus will be to help ensure Signature is the ‘Employer of Choice’ in the senior care business in the UK.

Tom Newell, Chief Executive of Signature Senior Living, said: “I am delighted to welcome these exceptional and dedicated operating professionals to the Signature team. Signature is creating a new care home with nursing approach by developing homes that become true communities, with residents having the privacy of their own apartments while enjoying as full a social life as they wish with fellow residents. Care is available as and when needed.”

“Following completion of our development equity fundraising last autumn, we are focused on ensuring that as we grow – and we are expecting to double in size and then double again over the next several years - we will continue delivering the very best environments and services for the people who will make our communities their home.”
