The past week has been all about fashion in Paris as the Paris Fashion Week dazzled its glitterati but attention will now turn to art as a number of exhibitions in the city’s leading museums aim to capture the imagination. It all kicks off with the Art Paris fair at the Grand Palais.

This coincides with Jet2.com’s announcement to offer cheap flights to many of Europe’s leading city break destinations.

From the Streets to the Museums

The artisan culture that is rife amongst the decorative streets of Paris often transcends the offerings in many of the galleries and museums. However, March is a particularly good time to visit the city as the early signs of spring threaten to illuminate the streets whilst many of the museums put on interesting exhibitions.

To make the most of the collective art offering available in Paris you just have to know which direction you are heading.

A Stroll Through Art History Along the Rue de Rivoli

With the Arc De Triomphe in the background, the Grand Palais is a great place to start a journey into the belly of Paris’s art this March.

Towards the end of the month Art Paris injects themes of contemporary design and art into an already burgeoning cultural scene. The annual event, which is open daily from 11a.m. to 8p.m. is credited with reminding the people of Paris of their love affair with art.

Artists come from all over the country and world with their exhibitions looking to push boundaries and inspire awe amongst visitors.

Just a few hundred yards down the Rue de Rivoli is the Louvre – perhaps the most famous museum in the world. The art on show here is of the world class variety and the exhibitions allow you to take a journey through time.

A More Modern and Intimate Collection

Roughly 8.5million people visit the Louvre each year but, for something a little more intimate then head further down the Rue de Rivoli and to the left, is the Centre Georges Pompidou.

The exhibitions here are a little more quirky and likely to leave you scratching your head.

This spring might be the perfect time to visit Paris for the eager art enthusiast. Jet2.com are currently offering cheap flights to Paris as part of their city break destination sale.
