New ways for educators to experience and interact with authors and their work

“Online professional development is of increasing importance as budgets get tighter and travel becomes harder,” said Alvin Crawford, CEO of Knowledge Delivery Systems.

Solution Tree and Marzano Research Laboratory (MRL), professional development companies for educators, and Knowledge Delivery Systems, Inc. (KDS), a provider of online professional development courses for educators, announced today that they are partnering to develop new online courses for educators featuring Solution Tree and MRL authors.

“For nearly 25 years, we’ve been more than just a publisher. Beyond books, we have videos, we have live events around the U.S. and Canada and we have a team of authors and facilitators who can work with schools on-site and via video and web conferencing,” explained Jeff Jones, president and CEO of Solution Tree. “By working with KDS to bring our authors into yet another medium, we ensure that even more educators and students can benefit from their work.”

“Online professional development is of increasing importance as budgets get tighter and travel becomes harder,” said Alvin Crawford, CEO of Knowledge Delivery Systems. “KDS’ brand new eClassroom platform features a great suite of interactive, video and on-demand tools to create an engaging learning experience—as well as critical reporting and accountability functions—for educators. Bringing Solution Tree’s authors and their expertise to this platform promises to be a great match.”

KDS’ eClassroom includes:

  •     Enhanced online community for interaction among learners, instructors and facilitators
  •     Resources tab with PowerPoint handouts, exemplar lesson plans and other documents
  •     Interactive study guides and assessments that measure comprehension
  •     Facilitator’s guides to extend and support blended learning models
  •     Integrated tracking and reporting features to monitor progress
  •     Data aggregated into exportable and printable reports
  •     Learning portfolios chronicling artifacts, such as assessment responses, reflections, collaborative discussions and certificates of completion

Topics for these new courses will include professional learning communities, response to intervention, 21st century skills, technology integration, transforming school culture, educational neuroscience, differentiated instruction, reading and literacy, student motivation and engagement, grading and assessment, vocabulary, and more. Six courses are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2011 with 12 more in spring of 2012. Courses will be based on selections from Solution Tree’s current product and service offerings, which include work by Richard and Rebecca DuFour, Robert Eaker, Robert J. Marzano, Douglas Reeves, David A. Sousa, Carol Ann Tomlinson, Anthony Muhammad, and others.
