Complete Production Services and Lakeland Financial Corp. are both profitable, and expected to be even more profitable by the end of 2011. Timing the entry of any trade, however, will be critical.

The Rhino Report has named Winn-Dixie Stores, Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp., Complete Production Services, and Lakeland Financial Corp. as possible investments for the Rhino Report portfolio. While none have been officially selected yet as actual recommendations, all four have displayed an optimal mix of bullish technical and fundamental qualities, and could become official picks in the near future.

James Brumley, chief analyst of the Rhino Report, identifies possible purchases well before acting on any of them. Most of the best trades take time to develop an attractive risk/reward profile, or key information is pending. By following top stock ideas before buying them, subtle problems can be spotted, and needed technical progress can form. In so doing, the portfolio is able to select only the best of the best investments.

Winn-Dixie Stores, as an example, has been a poor fundamental performer over the last several months, and the stock itself has struggled for years. Recently though, despite expectations of more losses, the stock has started to cross above key bullish technical milestones. Only a modest amount of progress from current prices will carry shares above resistance levels which, if crossed, could start a strong rally. In the meantime, Brumley feels the technical strength may indicate that investors are seeing profitably again beyond current analysts predictions.

Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. is a similar opportunity. The digital cinema operator is not profitable, nor expected to be anytime soon. Yet, recent technical progress suggests the market sees a renewed opportunity here, as it is being heavily bought. And, after a multi-month consolidation period, such a breakout could be significant even if short-lived.

Complete Production Services and Lakeland Financial Corp. are both attractive already by fundamental standards. Each is profitable, and expected to be even more profitable by the end of 2011. Timing the entry of any trade, however, will be critical. Both stocks are excessively volatile, even if bullish. By finding a short-term low within a long-term uptrend though, greater profit can be realized.
