At Travelsoon.com we have seen no sign of this surge abating and more people than ever are booking trips to the Canary Islands.
(Vocus/PRWEB) 30 March 2011
The Canary Islands have seen a significant spike in the number of foreign visitors this February. Online travel consultants Travelsoon.com believe that this destination has dominated the competitive winter holiday market. Luke Nathan of Travelsoon.com comments: “The Canary Islands have had a truly fantastic winter season and a huge number of people have flocked there to enjoy the area’s great weather, opulent resorts and fantastic scenery.”
Figures show that the string of islands received over 900,000 visitors last month: this constitutes an enormous 18.5% jump from 2010. Tenerife was the most popular island with over 300,000 visitors while Gran Canaria attracted just less than 290,000 people. This surge has helped boost Spain’s overall tourist numbers to 2.8 million visitors in February and 5.5 million in the first two months of 2011.
Nathan states that it is good to see Spanish tourism prospering. He comments: “This is one of the most developed tourist economies in the world and it is great to see it doing well: Spain has some of the best destinations for sea-side holidays and it is an excellent option for many of our British customers.”
Nathan concludes that the surge in booking to this destination is likely to continue well into the summer holiday season. He states: “At Travelsoon.com we have seen no sign of this surge abating and more people than ever are booking trips to the Canary Islands. This comes as no surprise at all as the area is a traveller’s paradise with great beaches and incredible natural attractions like Timanfaya National Park.”
