To keep it usable and accessible, especially for providers in rural areas, meant we had to make it web-based with no EMR requirement.

Global Net Access (GNAX), a leading healthcare technology service provider, announces that Jeff Hinkle, its President and Chief Operating Officer will speak at the Georgia HIMSS Lunch and Learn on March 30, 2011. The Spring GA HIMSS Chapter Meeting will focus on how clinical informatics enables patient engagement. Mr. Hinkle will participate in a panel discussion and describe how GNAX is actively implementing HIE efforts that will engage Georgia healthcare consumers.

A key component of the meaningful use of health information technology is engaging patients, which is about collaboration, education and participation in informed care decision making. Healthcare technology and the science of clinical informatics have evolved to the point that they enable consumer independence and give patients more control over their healthcare options.

GNAX is offering a health information exchange that was proactively built with key stakeholders in Georgia, including hospitals, physicians and patients. This HIE will enable new levels of patient engagement. It is based on NHIN Direct standards and is an intuitive web-based system accessed via any Internet browser. GNAX is delivering the HIE to all healthcare providers for no cost.

The GNAX HIE offers three main benefits for healthcare providers:

  •     Improved patient care – Quick access to a full array of medical records gives doctors the full picture when making care decisions.
  •     Lower costs – As a free service that eliminates needless faxes, phone calls, emails and couriers, the GNAX HIE greatly lowers costs so more funds can be directed toward patient care.
  •     Meet Federal guidelines – The GNAX HIE meets Stage 1 “meaningful use” guidelines for the electronic exchange of information between providers and offers a simple and fast way to satisfy national HIE initiatives.

The GNAX HIE will be available to all providers in Georgia and across the country in April of 2011. Learn more at http://www.gnax.net/healthcare.

The GA HIMSS Chapter Meeting is at Maggiano's Cumberland Mall in Atlanta on March 30, 2011.
