Bluegreen Corporation (NYSE: BXG), a leading provider of Colorful Places to Live and Play, today announced it will host Red Cross training classes for First Aid and Adult and Infant CPR at its Boca Raton headquarters. The American Red Cross is the nation’s premier emergency response organization. The American Red Cross offers neutral humanitarian aid to victims of war and natural disasters. In addition to disaster relief, the American Red Cross offers aid to the following: Community services that help the needy; support and comfort military members and their families; collect, process and distribute lifesaving blood and blood products; offer educational programs on health and safety; and provide international relief and development programs.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, once Honorary Chairman of the American Red Cross, declared the whole month of March to be Red Cross Month in 1943 in order to help raise funds to support and aid the military during World War II. Americans donated almost $146 million in less than six weeks, an effort that was labeled by Roosevelt as the “greatest single crusade of mercy in all of history.” Bluegreen has been a long-time supporter of the American Red Cross, and the company’s generous contributions to local and national levels have been repeatedly recognized.
“Bluegreen has a long history of supporting the American Red Cross and has been named to the Red Cross’ Circle of Humanitarians award in the past,” says Stephen Wilke, Director of Human Resources Development. “Our relationship with the Red Cross extends beyond charitable giving and volunteerism and demonstrates the company’s commitment to the personal welfare of our associates and customers and the welfare of the communities in which we live, work and play.”
