Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, Inc. has completed the acquisition of certain assets of the Kauai Coffee Company, Inc., a former subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc.

Today’s announcement is the culmination of the process jointly announced on December 23, 2010. Final terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“We appreciate the hard work exhibited by all parties during the past few months to bring about the timely completion of this process,” said John Boyle, Chief Operating Officer of Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA. “We are excited to welcome Kauai Coffee® into our portfolio of prestigious brands.”

Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA is headquartered in Portsmouth, Va., and is a subsidiary of the privately held Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group, the world’s only vertically integrated coffee company.
While the US-based company will oversee operations of Kauai Coffee’s 3,000 acre plantation and processing facilities and market the Kauai Coffee brand globally, the parent Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group will distribute the coffee internationally through its subsidiary system.

“We now have the capacity to bring to market nearly 50 percent of all the high quality 100 percent Arabica Hawaiian coffee grown in the United States” Boyle said. “It’s a wonderful new entry point for us into the growing super-premium coffee segment.”

Boyle said Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group’s branding expertise and global marketing channels will not only enhance the Kauai Coffee brand but also bring much wider recognition of the rich tradition of growing, milling and roasting coffee on the Garden Island.

“Estate-grown Kauai Coffee will join the Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group’s existing green coffee operations in Brazil, Costa Rica, Honduras, Vietnam and Indonesia” he said. The Kauai Coffee Company is located on the south side of the island of Kauai between Koloa and 'Ele'ele. Kauai Coffee’s visitors center remains a popular tourist destination that operates 364 days a year and welcomes as many as 700 people a day. For those who cannot travel to Kauai, a variety of Kauai Coffee products are available for sale online at
