Bend is the ideal location for an off road race like this. This city has an amazing reputation for the best outdoor recreation in the country, and we’re excited to have so many visitors who will get to see that firsthand.
Bend, Ore. (Vocus/PRWEB) March 30, 2011
Visit Bend is hosting the Merrell Oyster Off Road Adventure Race in Bend, Oregon on June 25.
Part of the Merrell Oyster Racing Series, the race is a unique event that requires teams to run, bike, paddle, climb, strategize, and perform other athletic stunts while answering clues and completing tasks. Teams of two to four participants will push their physical limits in some of nature’s most pristine playgrounds.
The Oyster Off Road Adventure Race is similar to its sister race, the Oyster Urban Adventure Race, a high-caliber urban race held in ten markets across the country for three years. The Bend event is the only off road adventure race on the west coast. The course and its required stunts will be kept secret until the day of the event, but may include quirky challenges like chugging beer along the Bend Ale Trail or answering trivia questions.
“This isn’t your typical athletic event, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to host it,” explained Kevney Dugan, Director of Sales & Sports Development for Visit Bend. “Bend is the ideal location for an off road race like this. This city has an amazing reputation for the best outdoor recreation in the country, and we’re excited to have so many visitors who will get to see that firsthand.”
Athletes interested in participating can learn more and register at http://www.oysterracingseries.com. The race will raise funds for the Deschutes River Conservancy, a Bend non-profit with a mission to restore streamflow and improve water quality in the Deschutes River basin.
In recent years, Bend has been named America’s Top Adventure Town (Men’s Journal), the #1 mountain biking town in the United States (Mountain Bike Action), Top 10 Fly Fishing Towns in the U.S. (Fly Fisherman), best trail running town (Outside), and one of the country’s Top Five Ski Towns (Travel + Leisure).
