The firestorm over the recent release of Love Wins, a new book by popular pastor Rob Bell, continues to stir up debate inside and outside the church walls. Some Christian theologians such as Albert Mohler have criticized Bell's controversial view on Hell and eternity as universalism and heresy. In all of this, many people have become confused as to whether or not they should really believe in Hell. What does the Bible actually say about Hell and the fate of millions of people who die without Jesus Christ?
Daniel Whyte III, a Christian minister and bestselling author of over fifteen books, has published a response to the Love Wins controversy. In his article titled "Hell, Do We Really Believe It? A Biblical Response to Rob Bell's Redefining of Hell" (which is also available in audio and video formats), he explains what the Bible says about Hell in simple terms and challenges Christians to act as though they really do believe Hell exists as the Bible says.
Stemming from an experience he had while traveling in Europe, in which he was impressed by God to talk with some young people about the eternal destination of their souls, Whyte commenced putting together this article (first preached as a sermon in Germany). His premise is that the Bible clearly states Hell is real: Old Testament Scriptures point towards the existence of Hell and Jesus Christ himself spoke on Hell. "Please excuse my expression," Whyte writes, "but Jesus Christ was a hell, fire, and brimstone preacher."
Whyte answers, from a Biblical perspective, the question of if there really is a Hell. He also addresses the topics of the location of Hell, who goes to Hell, and what kind of place is Hell, according to the Bible. He also answers Rob Bell's question, 'Is Gandhi In Hell?' Readers will find the article informative and sobering as it gives a broad overview of the reality and implications of Hell.
