Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 28, 2011
Mark Guimond, President of National Policy Group, testified before the California Senate Committee on Banking and Financial Institutions on amended Senate Bill 708 introduced by Senate Majority Leader Ellen Corbett.
“We found that the original version of the bill was overly broad and I am pleased that we were able to work with Senator Corbett’s office to narrow the bill and focus its jurisdiction properly to only the industry for which it was intended," said Mark Guimond. “The opportunity to testify before the Committee about the harmonization of this proposed state law with the Federal Trade Commission’s newly modified “Telemarketing Sales Rule” (TSR) was fundamental to having this bill accurately understood.”
Mark Guimond is known as the most effective lobbyist for the debt relief industries, having been part of the crafting, amending or enactment of more than 30 state bills and rules. One of Guimond’s most visible recent federal accomplishments was the deferred enforcement of the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) for tax problem resolution service providers.
“We will continue to work with the California legislature to craft a law that contains adequate consumer protections and reasonable regulation of service providers,” added Guimond.
