Follow Me to the Beer Tent
(PRWEB) April 21, 2011
TROY, MI- April 20, 2011 – MyInsuranceExpert.com has announced its participation in the Dexter Ann Arbor Run (DXA2) on June 5. A team of runners and walkers cheekily named “Follow Me to the Beer Tent” has chosen Alex’s Army as the charity that will benefit from its sweat.
On Monday, March 14th, Alex’s family got the devastating news that he has a rare cancer called neuroblastoma. The primary tumor has been removed, but not before the cancer spread to many parts of his bone marrow making his condition a critical stage 4. Alex’s best chance of recovery is an expensive experimental treatment which is not covered by his health insurance.
Employees have been invited to participate in the fundraising efforts by securing sponsorships and/or reservations for a special event package. For just $10 per person (minimum), MyInsuranceExpert.com is donating round-trip shuttle service to the run from its Troy headquarters and free team t-shirts for adults, allowing 100% of funds collected to be donated to Alex’s Army.
“This cause is close to our hearts, as Alex is a family member of one of our Advisors,” said Lorne Zalesin, CEO of MyInsuranceExpert.com. “It’s just another great example of how people who work at My Insurance Expert are considered family. It’s just what you do.”
In preparation for the event, runners meet weekly at MyInsuranceExpert.com’s Troy headquarters - rain or shine - for a one-hour training session. The team then uses the company’s complimentary gym memberships to clean up before starting their day at work, helping people from all over the country acquire affordable life insurance.
