(PRWEB) April 1, 2011 -- On Thursday, Mark Mariani, CEO of Mariani Packing Co., welcomed the newest member of the fourth generation to the business, his daughter, Natalie Mariani. “We are very excited to have Natalie join us. Being a nutritionist and a mother, she brings a unique perspective to Mariani.” Her own commitment to health inspired her to take on the position of Corporate Communications Manager. “When this position became available, I jumped at the chance of being able to communicate directly with our consumers. Being a Mom and a nutritionist, I know how important it is to feed our families well, and find that balance of delicious and nutritious,” says Natalie.
It’s not often that a family business lasts past its second generation, or third, or fourth. However, Mariani Packing Co. is just such a company. Over the last century Mariani has become the largest independent Dried Fruit processor in the United States. They have been a leader in Dried Fruit Innovation by being First To Market with new products (ie: Dried Cherries, Berries, and Tropical Fruits), and Packaging (ie: Stand up Bag, Touch Lock Re-seal). Its commitment to quality and food safety has set industry standards.
But perhaps what really sets Mariani apart, is that after over 100 years in business, the family still operates the day-to-day activities of the company. Started by a Yugoslavian farmer with a vision, Paul Mariani Sr. founded the dried fruit company on a small farm in Cupertino, CA. Three generations later, his grandson, Mark Mariani is CEO and has lead the company to be a major player in the global market.
As Manager of Mariani’s Corporate Communications, Natalie has plans to spread the word. Natalie is thrilled to be joining her family’s team who all work intimately in the day- to- day of the business. Mark’s cousin George Sousa Sr. has been Vice Chairman at Mariani for over 50 years. George’s sons, George Jr, and Stephen Sousa are both President and Director of Global Commodities respectively. Mark also has 2 sons at the company. Christopher Mariani is the Director of Facilities Management and Michael Mariani is the Director of Special Market Sales.
