Sheffield, Massachusetts (Vocus/PRWEB) April 04, 2011
Expanded customer service and support along with new products under development will be the main messages from Sheffield Plastics at this year’s International Sign Association Show.
A Bayer MaterialScience LLC business and a leading supplier to the sign industry, Sheffield’s product line-up features a wide range of UV resistant Makrolon® SL polycarbonate colors and size configurations.
Recent innovations include white Makrolon® LD sheet, developed with Bayer MaterialScience technology for LED backlit signs. The material uniformly diffuses intense pinpoint LED lighting to minimize hot spots on sign faces. Technical representatives at ISA will discuss performance advantages of the material and additional colors in development.
Sheffield will also highlight a new damage resistant reel, an improvement that resulted from working jointly with sign manufacturers. The new design eliminates costly waste from damaged material associated with traditional reel construction. Its development complements the company’s environmental sustainability programs that include manufacturing initiatives to recycle edge trim and minimize material waste.
Beyond product line improvements, Sheffield has also increased its technical and application support for sign manufacturers. Jeff Hester, recently appointed as Sign and Lighting Market Manager, now leads commercial activities and product line planning for these industries.
According to Hester, “Sheffield Plastics has made investments not just in products and services, but also in people, to support our customers’ growth in the sign market.”
“As examples,” he noted, “Sheffield uniquely offers the full-time support of a tech service engineer for polycarbonate sheet products. In addition, dedicated R&D technologists drive our product development efforts for new sign materials. In the field, three full-time business development people provide hands-on support with new applications, and back up our sales team on long-term development projects.”
Hester added that he and Sheffield’s sign industry support team will be on hand to discuss these recent developments at ISA Exposition Booth # 3527.
