Deep Blue and Peter’s have a great deal in common. We are both hugely passionate about the food we serve and want to develop the very best products that will appeal to all age groups and tastes.

Peter’s, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of pies, pasties and sausage rolls, has teamed up with Deep Blue Restaurants, one of the UK's largest fish and chip operators, with a promise to transform fast food’s ‘forgotten son’.

The move, which will initially see Peter’s exclusively supply Deep Blue Restaurant’s 25 outlets from its 900-strong range of products, signals the emergence of a ‘shared vision’ from both companies for the fish and chip industry.

Neil Court-Johnston, MD for Peter’s Food Service, explains:

“Deep Blue Restaurants is the largest chain of its kind in the UK and, since its formation; it has grown at a rapid rate. They’ve acquired some excellent sites, created some simply stunning restaurants and pieced together a blueprint for the industry that we wholeheartedly share.

“For many years there has been a need for someone to seize the initiative within the fish and chip industry, resurrect its fortunes and send a positive message to the nation about what is being achieved. I see this agreement as the first step in that direction and am thrilled.”

James Low, Chief Executive of Deep Blue Restaurants, said:

“Deep Blue and Peter’s have a great deal in common. We are both hugely passionate about the food we serve and want to develop the very best products that will appeal to all age groups and tastes.

“We know that Peter’s are working with John Benson-Smith on a programme of recipe development across their food service range and, together, we want to be on the front foot, pioneering a campaign for quality, nutritional value and consistently high standards within our industry.”

As well as providing Deep Blue Restaurants with a range of products, including pies, pasties, slices and saveloys, from March 28, Peter’s will also supply a range of ‘point of sale’ products and marketing support. This will include a ‘text to win’ competition offering customers free and discounted pastries at breakfast, lunch and tea.

Peter’s Food Service began life as a small pie manufacturer in South Wales. Today it’s one of Britain’s best-loved brands of pies, pasties and sausage rolls. The business, which is based in Bedwas, South Wales, produces over 3 million delicious pastries every week and employs 700 people with an annual turnover of £65 million.

With 10 distribution depots throughout the UK, Peter’s has more than 50 years’ experience in supplying fish bars, fast food outlets, sports stadia, restaurants, cafes, independent retailers, schools, hospitals and hotels with a range of over 900 separate product lines.

Since opening its first shop in 2003, Deep Blue has become one of the largest operators of Fish & Chip shops and restaurants in the UK and now has 25 outlets all over the south.
