Green Seal Certified Hotel Turns 25 Guestrooms into Allergy Free Zone

Luxurious, four-star, hypoallergenic accommodations at Hotel Monaco Portland

More and more we see guests who suffer from allergies or other health issues and we really want to accommodate those travelers seeking a cleaner and healthier environment.

Imagine a hotel taking extra steps to ensure guests with allergies feel welcome, comfortable and entirely sneeze-free. The concept is now a reality at Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco Portland. The property unveiled today an oasis for the long-suffering traveler. Dedicated to helping guests with allergies and asthma get a good night’s sleep, the hotel has created an entire floor of hypo-allergenic rooms by taking these steps:

  •     Special HEPA filter vacuums to clean the rooms; the HEPA filters trap fine particles like pollen and dust mites
  •     Green Seal approved fragrance-free and chemical-free cleaning products
  •     Hypoallergenic and fragrance-free soaps, lotions and shampoos available by request.
  •     Synthetic comforters and pillows (no down)
  •     Wheat-free and gluten-free items in the mini-bars
  •     Hotel guarantee these rooms will never be occupied by a pet and are smoke-free

“Requests for allergen free rooms have become more frequent,” said Craig Thompson, general manager of the Hotel Monaco Portland. “More and more we see guests who suffer from allergies or other health issues and we really want to accommodate those travelers seeking a cleaner and healthier environment. While the rest of the hotel remains pet-friendly, we can guarantee 25 of our four-star accommodations to be completely pet and allergy-free.”

Guests can book these hypo-allergenic rooms at 1-800 KIMPTON or
