The Baltimore, Maryland based gospel talent show Blessed and Talented Soul Ministries is new but set to follow in the tradition of classic Baltimore music and talent shows such as the Buddy Deane Show and Washington, DC's Teenorama. "We want to do a show that promotes the gospel and is very inclusive, embracing a wide variety of styles and presentations," says the show's producer and host Gordon Jones (no relation to the BET host of Bobby Jones Gospel). "We want to create a television ministry that will be different from others and encourage people from all walks of life to watch and participate." Blessed and Talented will feature performances of traditional gospel, modern gospel, a cappella, gospel jazz, classical and acoustic folk styles. The show is a ministry of the Liberty Community Church of God In Christ of Hebbville, Maryland, Pastor Lazarus Jones. Jones says that the show's motto, 'If You Have Talent, Use it for God' is one that the church truly believes.
The monthly television program will screen on the Baltimore ABC affiliate WMAR Channel 2 on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 at 5:30 AM and on the last Sunday of each following month. "We hope to grow and become a weekly program in the future," Jones says. "And to that end we invite everyone to tune in and participate." The show is directed by Keith Garside who is best known for the gospel movies A Shepherd of Pure Heart (2005) and Sister Sonya's Prayer Group (2009). More information on how performers and viewers can participate is available at Blessed and Talented Soul Ministries on Facebook.
