On May 11, 2011, Reed Construction Data (RCD), Hanley Wood, and the AIA Council of Architectural Component Executives (CACE) will join forces to introduce AEC Cares-projectNOLA to help restore homes within the New Orleans, LA (NOLA) community.

The outreach project, organized by New Orleans Operation Helping Hands, provides residential construction based services, labor and materials to the community. Participants include volunteer professionals from the architecture, manufacturing and contracting industries.

“The strength and resilience demonstrated by the community and people of New Orleans has been astonishing, with profound affects amidst this country as a whole. In the wake of the city’s progression towards rebuilding, we are honored to serve NOLA in helping to restore the community to its unique architecture and décor. To the various sponsors’ and volunteers’ involvement in this project, I am deeply moved and grateful for the contribution of time, energy, resources and efforts to make May 11th a huge success,” says Steve Ritchie, Reed Construction Data, VP of Marketing and Business Development.

CACE President Mike Waldinger noted, “New Orleans is one of America’s most endearing cities with unique culture, cuisine and communities. It’s been almost six years since storm surges devastated neighborhoods and destroyed 300,000 homes. We’re honored to have the chance to support residents who are still on the road to recovery.” He added, “Members of CACE from around the country connect architects to better regional and urban design back home so it will be a natural extension of our efforts to join industry partners who want to help make a difference rebuilding in the convention city.”

AEC Cares-projectNOLA is a service project designed to enhance the lives, safety and security of the parish community and its residents. projectNOLA provides a non-business environment where industry professionals can meet and engage in work that is meaningful, generating new and lasting relationships.
