Shine on Sierra Leone, a non profit organization that provides education, mentoring and nutritional support to schools in Sierra Leone, West Africa and which has Victoria Secret model Selita Ebanks and critically-acclaimed actor Jeffrey Wright as ambassadores, will receive partial proceeds from this Saturday’s Green White and Blue Ball.
The red carpet cocktail ball commemorates the independence anniversary of the small West African nation of Sierra Leone and is held annually at a prestigious DC location. Because this is the 50th anniversary of Sierra Leone’s independence, this year’s celebration is expected to be even more spectacular than previous ones. As in the past, it attracts over a thousand attendees including dignitaries, foreign ambassadors and other influential leaders from the diverse international community in Washington, DC. This area boasts the most expatriates from Sierra Leone than any other region worldwide.
The 3rd annual ball will be held at the Historical Society of Washington in DC at 801 K Street, NW on April 9 and begins with a reception from 8 to 10pm, featuring a complimentary open bar and light dinner, followed by a formal gala at 10 pm. Ticket sale information can be found at http://www.greenwhiteandblueball.com/. The must-attend event will also feature live entertainment and a brief award ceremony honoring leaders and organizations that benefit the Sierra Leone American community.
