QuickLabel Systems has released a video showing the use of their Pronto! 486 barcode label printer by the Soup Peddler in Austin, Texas.

QuickLabel Systems recently published a video describing the barcode label automation solution it developed for The Soup Peddler, a booming home-style food delivery service in Austin, TX with a large variety of product variations. The video can also be viewed on the QuickLabel Systems blog or on QuickLabel’s YouTube channel at Youtube.com/QuickLabel.

With hundreds of different soup, entrée and dessert recipes, The Soup Peddler was in search of an intelligent label printer to produce labels for its rotating weekly 10 item menu. “What we had been doing was a little kludgy. I wanted to find something a little more foolproof and more professional,” said David Ansel, founder and owner of the Soup Peddler.

The solution that he found was the QuickLabel Systems’ Pronto! 486 barcode printer and NiceLabel® software. Ansel made the decision to purchase the Pronto! 486 barcode printer and NiceLabel® barcode labeling software after verifying that he could write a database merge to automate printing of labels with entrée recipes, ingredients lists, pack date, serving instructions, and net weight.

With this valuable function, Ansel is able to use the Pronto! 486 to instantly print labels with any text or images in the Soup Peddler database. “The fact that I could do that database merge was pretty key for me, and I liked the fact that there was a local salesperson,” said Ansel.

The Pronto! 486 label printer adds the variable information onto pre-printed flexographic labels, printing in the blank space of the label “shell.” The custom labels are pre-printed on a flexographic press at the QuickLabel Systems label factory in Asheboro, N.C. “It’s our total labeling solution. I just ordered a new set of round labels for another package and it’s going to be really easy to change out the rolls on the printer. I won’t have to adjust anything,” said Ansel.

The Pronto! 486 is a desktop barcode label printer, ideal for high-resolution barcode label printing. The Pronto! 486 prints at a speed of up to 4 ips and also makes barcode labels fast enough to satisfy most labeling applications.

The Pronto! 486 can be purchased directly from QuickLabel Systems; http://www.QuickLabel.com/store or by speaking with a local QuickLabel Systems salesperson. You can see the Pronto! 486 for yourself at the upcoming Interpack Show in Düsseldorf, Germany in Stand B11 May 12-18 and at the Eastpack Show in New York City, from June 7-9, 2011 in Booth #3450.
