Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the nation's largest intellectual property law firms, is now accepting applications for its 3rd Annual Brinks Innovation Competition, a competition for entrepreneurs in clean and green technologies that seeks to promote venture-ready business ideas to potential investors and to the scientific and research communities.
The Brinks Innovation Competition is held annually in conjunction with the Midwest Clean Tech Conference, which is presented by the Global Midwest Alliance and is jointly sponsored by Brinks, the Midwest Research University Network and the Economic Development Council. Midwest Clean Tech 2011 will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago on September 14, 2011.
Entries must provide solutions to global challenges in such areas as environmental technologies, renewable and alternative energy, infrastructure and community, or green building science, and must offer competitive returns for investors and customers. Products, services and processes eligible for entry should improve and promote the productive and responsible use of natural resources, reduce or eliminate negative ecological impact, and provide superior performance at lower costs. Applicants should also have a sound, venture-ready business plan and have ideally completed an initial or angel round of funding. Applications must be received no later than Monday, June 28, 2011.
The Brinks Innovation Competition is attended by leading entrepreneurs as well as research scientists, venture capital investors, policymakers and other key stakeholders. Inventors will submit their products, services or processes to a qualified panel of experts—competing not only for a cash award, but also for opportunities to explore licensing and funding, network with investors and help their ideas become reality.
