When it comes to live entertainment, this spring The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa has something for everyone.
Tickets are now on sale for a local production of “Rent” that runs April 14-16, rock ‘n’ roller George Thorogood on April 22, country legends the Oak Ridge Boys on April 28, and comedian and “Late, Late Show” host Craig Ferguson on April 30.
When Tulsa Project Theatre opens a three-night run of “Rent” at The Joint, it will do so with a cast of featured guest artists and a first-of-its-kind collaboration with the University of Tulsa’s Musical Theatre Department. Tickets start at $35.
Jonathan Larson created “Rent,” a rock opera about a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive in New York's Lower East Side under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. Since the official January 25, 1996, opening, the show has won a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award for Best Musical.
Since 1977, George Thorogood and the Destroyers have released 16 studio albums that have featured numerous hit singles, including the 1982 breakthrough “Bad to the Bone” and the 1993 hit “Get a Haircut.” To date, the band has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide. Tickets start at $45.
Throughout more than three decades, the Oak Ridge Boys have released 27 studio albums, including 11 that have peaked in the top 10 of the Billboard country music charts. The band has released 56 singles, including 17 No. 1 hits as well as an additional 15 tracks that have reached the top 10. The Oaks earned numerous awards for “Elvira,” including the 1982 Grammy for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. Tickets start at $35.
For the last six years, Ferguson has been the host of the “Late, Late Show,” which draws an average of nearly 2 million viewers each night. In 2010, Ferguson’s interview of Archbishop Desmond Tutu earned the host a Peabody Award for Excellence in Television. He was also nominated for an Emmy in 2006 for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program. Tickets start at $50.
