Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) will discover innovation, profitable growth opportunities, and higher client satisfaction by joining the new Tompkins Supply Chain Consortium for LSPs.
Recent studies show that LSPs are solid performers overall, but they need to focus more on innovation. According to a 2010 study by Capgemini, Georgia Institute of Technology, Panalpina and Eye for Transport, nearly all LSPs believe they provide “new and innovative ways to improve logistics effectiveness.” However, only two-thirds of shippers (their main customers) agree.
“The LSP Consortium closes the communication gap between LSPs and shippers by providing insights on innovative ways for LSPs to improve logistics effectiveness,” notes Valerie Bonebrake, SVP of Tompkins Associates and LSP industry expert. “Our new fact-based profile feature allows shippers to access tangible LSP data, creating higher visibility for the service providers. At the same time, LSPs can utilize the database to measure their performance against comparable organizations, revealing opportunities for continuous performance improvement.”
Companies are increasingly looking to LSPs as they outsource more functions that are not core to their businesses. Due to this growing need for LSPs, now is the time for service providers to build their strengths, increase their capabilities and achieve profitable growth.
“With a rising demand for LSP services and substantial industry consolidation, the future growth of LSPs will be tremendous,” adds Bruce Tompkins Executive Director of Tompkins Supply Chain Consortium. “We want to ensure that LSPs have the resources to make them more visible to potential clients while improving their operations – which will in turn strengthen their clients’ supply chains.”
In addition to the benchmark database, companies will have access to reports, surveys and research plus networking opportunities (among other LSPs and shippers), and they may attend the Consortium’s annual educational event – the Supply Chain Leadership Forum.
More information about benefits and membership is available through Tompkins Supply Chain Consortium for LSPs. The Consortium also has a LinkedIn group and Xing group for qualified companies that are interested in staying current on the latest in supply chain benchmarking and best practices.
