In the spirit of Earth Month, downtown’s Andaz San Diego hotel is planting seeds of eco-consciousness with its new “Spring Celebration” package that offers incentives for guests who travel green throughout the months of April and May.

Rewarding its green-minded guests, the Galamp Quarter hotel’s Spring Celebration package is available April 1 through May 31 with prices starting at $219 per night, and features:

  •     Complimentary valet parking for guests who arrive in eco-friendly, hybrid cars;
  •     A complimentary glass of local wine from Fallbrook Winery, a leader in San Diego’s emerging South Coast wine region, upon check-in; and
  •     As a symbol of inspiration to be ever eco-conscious, guests who book the package, and all hotel guests on Earth Day, will receive a packet of assorted seeds to plant as reminders of our growing environmental awareness and sustainable actions to save the earth.

“All it takes is one seed to cultivate an idea that leads to positive environmental change,” said Rachael Giannecchini marketing manager of Andaz San Diego. “We hope this getaway inspires travelers to live more sustainably and enjoy our green offerings as well as local events commemorating Earth Month and Earth Day.”

Guests are invited to stop by the Ivy Wine Bar, featuring 88 wines by the glass, and sip organic wines from selections made using biodynamic and sustainable farming practices, including: Benziger Family Wines (Signaterra and Tribute); ZD Wines; Vertical Araujo Estate; Chateau de Beaucastel (limited Jasques Perrin releases and Magnum); and Seghesio. At the hotel’s Quarter Kitchen restaurant, Chef Michael Liotta offers dishes prepared with locally grown and organic food sources provided by Crows Pass Farms in Temecula, Blue Heron Farm in Fallbrook and Cunningham Organic Farm in Fallbrook.

Visitors to Andaz San Diego can also enjoy the great outdoors, from an urban vantage point, at the Ivy Rooftop, San Diego’s hottest rooftop bar complete with pool, lounge and sundeck. Or, venture into the Gaslamp Quarter which boasts plenty of earth-friendly activities including walks along the waterfront, flying kites on the Embarcadero, sampling the organic produce and artisan crafts at the Gaslamp Quarter’s Third Avenue Farmer’s Market held every Sunday; or relaxing in a neighborhood park.

And, there are also dozens of Earth Day events throughout San Diego including the 22nd Annual EarthFair at Balboa Park, the largest free environmental fair in the world on Sunday, April 17 or the “Party at the Park: Wine & Food Festival” at PETCO Park on Earth Day, Friday, April 22.
