Much of the success of The American College’s recent fundraising efforts can be attributed to Claudia’s leadership.

The American College, the nation’s leading financial services educator, has named Claudia H. Stowers, Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®), to Vice President of Advancement.
Prior to her appointment, Stowers was Associate Vice President of Advancement at The College and tasked with organizing and managing The College’s recent comprehensive capital fundraising efforts. In her expanded role, she will continue to function as campaign manager and maintain a full portfolio of donor prospects, as well as assume additional management and supervisory responsibilities within the Advancement Division.

Stowers joined The American College in June 2009 following a 20-plus year career in non-profit management and fundraising. She has served as CEO of United Ways in North Carolina and Washington, D.C. and has previous experience leading the development and marketing programs at Episcopal Community Services and Girl Scouts of Eastern, PA, both headquartered in the greater Philadelphia area. She has also served as a non-profit management consultant affiliated with La Salle University in Philadelphia.
Stowers earned her BA from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC and did graduate work at North Carolina State University and Appalachian State University. She completed the Harvard University Executive Management program in 2001.
Currently, she is Senior Warden at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Society Hill and co-chair of the church’s 250th Anniversary Committee. She holds professional memberships in the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Philadelphia Chapter and the Planned Giving Council of Greater Philadelphia. She is a former President of the Rotary Club of High Point and a former Director of the Rotary Club of Philadelphia.
