Following a period of sustained growth, Steven Roberts Original Desserts and Ticklebelly Desserts today announce the addition of a 100,000 square foot, state-of-the-art bakery in Pembroke, N.C., scheduled to open in summer, 2011. The new bakery provides Steven Roberts Original Desserts and Ticklebelly increased capacity to manufacture and ship their innovative, signature desserts to clients and consumers across the nation and to continue to meet clients’ varied scaling needs. The facility is an existing bakery and Steven Roberts Original Desserts and Ticklebelly are investing approximately $4 million over the next five years for building upgrades, expansion, and equipment. Current manufacturing and distribution facilities are located in Denver and Longmont, CO. The project was made possible, in part, by a $392,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund and the bakery will add 342 jobs to the Pembroke, N. C., area over the next three years.

“Steven Roberts Original Desserts and Ticklebelly Desserts offer dynamic, innovative product development followed by the capacity to bring our clients’ products to market on multiple platforms at multiple levels,” stated Charles Kosmont, Chairman. “This facility allows us to expand our production, add manufacturing and shipping redundancy, and continue our leadership role in scaling dessert production to our clients’ needs,” Kosmont explained.

“Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at both Steven Roberts Original Desserts and Ticklebelly,” stated Kosmont. “Ticklebelly has been first to market with dessert shots, cake pops, and dessert minis, and we are currently finalizing innovative new products for Steven Roberts Original Desserts to unveil at the National Restaurant Association show in May and for Ticklebelly to introduce at the International Dairy Deli Bakery Association show in June,” Kosmont commented.

Steven Roberts Original Desserts and Ticklebelly Desserts selected Pembroke, N. C., based on the availability of an existing bakery, its geographic location, the funds available through the One North Carolina Fund, and the strong potential employee base. “We’re thrilled to be part of the Pembroke community and we look forward to having our Pembroke team members help us continue to be first to market with our trendsetting desserts,” Kosmont said.
