We want to enable our customers' easy online access to the highest quality, nationwide elevation models available for oil and gas exploration and development, with accuracy similar to LiDAR at a fraction of the cost,” stated Bud Pope, Spatial Energy.
Boulder, CO (Vocus/PRWEB) April 13, 2011
Spatial Energy, the leading source for digital imagery and services within the energy industry, today announced that Intermap Technologies NEXTMap high-resolution countrywide elevation data is available for online purchase on http://www.TerrainNow.com, a sub-set portal of Spatial on Demand®, the world’s largest energy-specific online database.
The new TerrainNow.com portal allows energy sector customers to quickly identify the availability of seamless, high-resolution elevation data and satellite and aerial imagery and order it directly from their desktop or browser. Elevation data is now online for the contiguous United States and Hawaii, and will soon be available for all of Western Europe and areas in Asia.
Intermap’s countrywide NEXTMap datasets available on TerrianNow.com include uniformly reliable digital surface models (DSMs) that include cultural features (such as vegetation, buildings, and roads), digital terrain models (DTMs) that display the bare earth (with all vegetation and cultural features digitally removed) and a hill shade relief layer. The TerrainNow.com portal's next release, due this summer, will also offer additional data sets such as an enhanced national hydrology dataset, road and trail data, land steward data, and terrain-derived water bodies.
The Terrainnow.com portal streamlines both the ordering and delivery of elevation data – and allows it to be stored in the Spatial on Demand database where anyone on the client end can easily access it as their needs dictate. Spatial on Demand is an enterprise geospatial data hosting application used to store, access, query, and retrieve a company’s corporate geospatial data, as well as other energy-specific datasets. Sold as an annual subscription, Spatial on Demand provides customers easy access to the portal and streaming services, and the ability to store existing images and new investments. NEXTMap high-resolution countrywide elevation data is discoverable for download and purchase to current Spatial on Demand customers through their existing subscription and portal.
“We want to enable our customers' easy online access to the highest quality, nationwide elevation models available for oil and gas exploration and development, with accuracy similar to LiDAR at a fraction of the cost,” stated Bud Pope, Spatial Energy’s president. “Our energy sector customers fully understand the tremendous value elevation data provides for seismic surveys, well sites, pipeline routes, transportation, transmission, environmental applications and other oil and gas planning activities."
