Movers USA and The Maryland Movers Conference would like to share in an incredible opportunity with the public to help by sending more ShelterBoxes to the thousands of Japanese citizens who are injured or displaced following these two massive earthquakes.

Nearly a month has passed since one of the largest earthquakes the modern world has ever known struck Japan, triggering a massive tsunami which has left stretches of the country’s coast in ruins, and once again Japan was rattled by a magnitude-7.1 aftershock earthquake felt on Thursday, April 7 around 11:30pm. Japanese officials said 25,000 people were killed by the first devastating earthquake and tsunami. Another 500,000 Japanese residents had been forced from their homes into temporary accommodation -- the quality of which varied greatly.

Movers USA and The Maryland Movers Conference would like to share in an incredible opportunity with the public to help by sending more ShelterBoxes to the thousands of Japanese citizens who are injured or displaced following these two massive earthquakes. MMTA Maryland Movers Conference Chairman Gil BenShoushan who is also the founder and president of Movers USA, Inc, and former chairman Mr. Howard Levine, initiated this project. MMTA board members have all donated to this great cause; still, more ShelterBoxes are needed in JAPAN immediately.

What is a ShelterBox?
Each large green ShelterBox is specifically designed for a particular disaster; however they typically contain a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, children's activity pack, food rations, and other vital items.

ShelterBox relies entirely on public donations in order to be able to do this important work. At this time the Maryland Movers Conference Board members have all donated generously to this great cause, particularly in light of the current need for these supplies in disaster-ridden Japan.
