Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 18, 2011
Spiffy Press, (http://www.spiffypress.com/unique-la.html) a local, letterpress design and printing business in Pasadena, CA, was recently selected to participate in the 3rd Annual Unique LA Spring Show (http://www.uniquela.com). The show draws 20,000 attendees to shop the largest independent design and gift show in the country. This year’s show is Mothers Day weekend, May 7–8, 2011 at the California Market Center’s Penthouse, 110 East 9th Street, Los Angeles, California, 90079. Admission is $10 at the door or presale (kids 12 and under are free) and includes a limited edition tote bag, drinks and hosted bar, free workshops and more.
Unique LA focuses on bringing together local vendors and shoppers with a keen interest in innovative, contemporary design; locally made goods; eco-awareness; and charitable giving. Sonja Rasula, founder of Unique LA, pulls it all together with style as she seeks to help restore local economies and make a difference in the world. Each year, Unique LA donates to a charitable organization as part of extending the do-good attitude beyond the city limits. This year’s focus is on the international community with the rebuilding and relief effort in Japan; 10% of show proceeds will be donated Architecture for Humanity.
The curated show selects 300 vendors from over 750 applicants to create a diverse group of vendors in a variety of categories, from stationery to clothing and jewelry to eco-designs and more. Jurors select vendors who achieve the aesthetic of the show’s high design to meet shoppers’ high expectations. The main thrust of the event is to showcase, local, made-in-America products, which neatly fits with the “Buy Local” posters popping up in the greater Los Angeles area.
Scott Wallin, Owner of Spiffy Press, said, “I totally connect with Sonja’s desire to create a show that brings together local LA businesses and consumers who care about finding truly unique designs. The bigger vision of creating community, giving back and buying eco-friendly products gives deeper purpose to my work.” He continued to say, “We use eco-friendly papers, like 100% tree-free paper and recycled envelopes. This is as important as creating type-driven designs in our letterpress stationery and greeting cards.”
Spiffy Press will feature designs made specifically for the Unique LA event and hold daily drawings to win free letterpress greeting card sets, just as they do each month on their website (http://www.spiffypress.com/contact-us.html). Visit Spiffy Press online to view their full line of designs with attitude, from all-occasion greeting cards to custom-designed stationery and wedding invitations. When in the following cities, find their greeting cards in these independent stationery stores: Orange Beautiful, Chicago, Illiniois; Kate’s Paperie, New York, New York; Mac & Murphy, Charleston, South Carolina; and Really Fab Cards, Eton, Berkshire, London, England.
