Pratt Homes has seen high demand this year for new townhomes and condominiums in Barrie.

We haven’t seen such incredible demand in a long time. This particular site has a great deal of excitement attached to it, partly because of the limited availability of new townhomes in Barrie right now.

Pratt Homes, Barrie’s leading townhome and condominium developer is having a preliminary release of its Southwoods project. Pratt Homes has 216 people registered for the 88-unit site. Because of the extremely high demand for these new townhome and condominium units, Pratt Homes is having a soft opening at their head office on Friday April 15th for people who have registered. The official release to the public will be at the Southwoods sales office at 40 Ferndale Drive on Saturday April 16th. All townhomes and condominiums are expected to be sold out either this weekend or shortly thereafter.

“We haven’t seen such incredible demand in a long time,” stated Karen Pratt, President of Pratt Homes. “This particular site has a great deal of excitement attached to it, partly because of the limited availability of new townhomes in Barrie right now. But, also, because of the recovered economy, buyer confidence is back.”

Sales Manager for Pratt Homes, Bruno Tidd said, “The huge demand for this site may also be because of the ideal location on the corner of Harvie and Veteran’s Drive in the South End”

With demand like this in the Barrie townhome, condominium and resale market, all indicators are clear. Barrie residents’ demand for new housing exceeds the supply of new land available. Innisfil sites continue to be developed by local builders, as council has directed. But, the push by local builders to have council bring the new annexed lands on stream for future new home and condominium building and development in Barrie is now stronger than ever. “Of course we have other sites available to last us for the next few years, but the new lands need to be brought in quicker in order to meet these new housing demands of local residents” said Pratt.

Heljar Hansen, President of the Canadian Home Builders Association Simcoe County, believes that the recovery in the local home and condominium building market is consistent with what is being seen in the GTA and other surrounding communities. Hansen stated “The optimism of builders across Ontario is encouraging. Many builders are finally feeling confident enough to gear up for a big year in 2011”.

Media is welcome to attend the Pratt Homes Soft Opening on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 6:00pm at the Pratt Hansen Group Inc. head office located at 301 King Street, Barrie, Ontario. For further details or directions call (705) 792-3883.
