Keeping homes clean and tidy, removing clutter and fixing problem areas are three of the best ways to attract potential property purchasers, according to new research from Post Office Mortgages.
However, not all sellers feel the need to prepare their homes for sale with a fifth (20 per cent) of people surveyed by Post Office Mortgages claiming that, ‘nothing needs doing’ to attract potential buyers, while six per cent stated that they know there is work to do but don’t plan to do it.
The Post Office Mortgages research also investigated the top features which attract UK househunters to invest in a new property. A new kitchen topped the list of attractive features, followed by a new bathroom. While 57 per cent of househunters told the mortgage provider that they’d be more likely to buy a clean and tidy property, some 49 per cent of homeowners said they wouldn’t clean and tidy their home to make it more attractive and only 48 per cent said they’d remove clutter to make it appear bigger.
To take some of stress out of moving home Post Office Mortgages offers a range of mortgages to suit a different customer needs, from first time buyer mortgages to people moving home and requiring a new mortgage.
