Consumers looking to improve the environment through their daily actions and lifestyle have new resources to help them at the Smarter Life. Better Planet video site. Offering visitors insights and practical tips in the form of daily challenges, the Smarter Life, Better Planet series has recently added new videos from leading environmentalists and humanitarians, such as Majora Carter and John Shegerian.
Visitors will hear from Judy Wicks, the founder of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies and one of the first figureheads of the local food movement, about why local commerce plays a critical role in addressing climate change and other environmental challenges. Also featured is architect Martin Hammer, who brought rammed-earth construction to post-earthquake Haiti with Builders Without Borders, encouraging viewers to use their unique talents in creative ways to benefit the environment.
Jill Buck; founder of the Go Green Initiative, a world-wide organization that helps over 1.5 million students and teachers create more eco-friendly schools, shares simple steps you can take in your own home to protect our natural waterways. One example she shares is using community take-back programs to dispose of expired medicines, thus keeping them out of the water supply. And Majora Carter, an award-winning humanitarian who has spearheaded programs that create green jobs and urban renewal, leads viewers on an exploration of the ripple effects of all our choices in today's globalized and deeply interconnected world.
Viewers will also discover quick and easy steps they can take to recycle their used electronics from John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of Electronics Recyclers International, such as bringing them to local retailers like Best Buy.
