I used to work in offices in Tysons and always wished there were more lunch options. I started Top Dog as a way of bringing unique options to an underserved area – and getting to work the grill all day is a definite bonus.

Among the first of gourmet food trucks in Northern Virginia, Top Dog will roll into town on April 22 – look for the big orange truck.

Company owner Dave Adams uses high-end and locally sourced ingredients to transform the familiar hot dog into a Top Dog. At present, Top Dog specializes in two types of dogs. The Sonoran, hailing from Tucson, Arizona, is a bacon-wrapped all beef dog served on a buttery brioche bun, topped with warm pinto beans, caramelized onions, freshly-diced tomatoes, lime-mayo, mustard, and kickin’ jalapeno sauce. The Boss is a Hungarian debreziner sausage – a caraway seed, red pepper, pork artisan sausage – served on a brioche bun, lined with sweet smoky sauce, pickle spear, yellow peppers and onions. And finally some love to the vegetarians – the Not Dog is a brioche bun brimming with warm pinto beans, sliced avocado, caramelized onions, freshly-diced tomatoes, lime-mayo, mustard, and fiery house-made jalapeno sauce. Top Dog sources its ingredients from local businesses to get the highest-quality and best taste.

Says Adams, “I used to work in offices in Tysons and always wished there were more lunch options. I started Top Dog as a way of bringing unique options to an underserved area – and getting to work the grill all day is a definite bonus.” He invites everyone to come out for Top Dog’s grand opening on April 22, 2011. “Wrap up winter and get out of the house. We’ll get the grill going, play some tunes, meet the dog-loving community, and start ushering in summer. Friends, family, vegetarians, and dogs welcome.” The truck, parked in Tysons for lunch and near George Mason University for dinner, will celebrate with some great deals and a Top Dog cake.

Top Dog regularly operates Monday through Friday in Northern Virginia to meet the limited lunch breaks of area professionals with streamlined service and high quality cuisine. Top Dog also caters office lunches, birthday parties, and special functions and is available for festivals and other local events.
