Melinda’s Garden Moments, one-minute gardening tips produced for local TV and radio stations and hosted by nationally known gardening expert Melinda Myers will air on over 80 television and radio stations throughout the U.S. this year. The radio segments run on several stations in Canada as well.
Both the TV and radio segments are intended to help gardeners create and maintain a healthy, beautiful garden with ease. “I want to make gardening enjoyable and take out the intimidation factor,” stated Myers. “If people feel comfortable and equipped with a solid foundation of gardening know how, they are more likely to get out and get growing which is one of my goals.”
The 2011 season consists of 34 TV segments which air weekly throughout the growing season, while the radio stations air 3-5 segments per week throughout the year.
Myers covers a wide range of topics, including creative ways to grow your own vegetables & herbs while at the same time beautifying your landscape; eco-friendly lawn care; flower garden design basics; unique container gardens; attracting birds & butterflies to the landscape; late season beauty; creating curb appeal; use of rain barrels; shade gardening and much more. All of the segments take a very environmentally-friendly approach to gardening.
“In this day and age when people are so busy, I hope to help people see how gardening can not only provide beauty and reduce the grocery bill, but also slow us down a bit, feed our souls and ultimately reduce stress,” said Myers.
