Successor to Radiometer’s OSM3 CO-OX-only analyzer, the new OSM version of the ABL80 FLEX CO-OX provides a broad CO-OX parameter panel for multiple clinical applications, including cardiac catheterization labs, where an oximeter is required during procedures such as angioplasty. CO-oximeters are also typically used to detect hypoxia (too little oxygen in the blood), a condition that can cause severe damage to the heart and central nervous system. This is an especially useful indicator for critical patients in the emergency department or ICU.
According to Jakob Møller-Jensen, Radiometer’s Global Product Manager for the OSM version of the ABL80 FLEX CO-OX, the new CO-OX only analyzer brings together the best of both worlds. “With the new OSM version, we were able to take the same kind of accuracy our customers expect from one of our traditional benchtop analyzers and put it into a compact, easy-to-use, cartridge-based analyzer,” says Møller-Jensen.
