The Southern Nevada Hotel Concierge Association celebrates 21 years of service on the 21st of April.

The Proclamation from Mayor Oscar Goodman's office declares that April 21st, 2011 shall be recognized as Southern Nevada Hotel Concierge Association Day.

This is the second year that SNHCA has celebrated a calendar day as their own. Last year, while Mayor Goodman honored April 21st, 2010 as Southern Nevada Hotel Concierge Association Day, the prestigious organization celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a grand "birthday" party. This year, SNHCA celebrates their anniversary by holding the Choice Award Presentation. There are 17 categories for the Choice Awards which honor excellence in service, cuisine and entertainment in Las Vegas as voted upon by the association members.

In April of 1990, the first informal gathering of what was to become the SNHCA took place in a suite at the Desert Inn Hotel. The association, now with its 160 Full members, 12 Honorary and 70 Prospective members, still meet monthly to network with concierge around the city, discuss association business matters, changes within the city, and charitable endeavors.

Founder Jacqueline Hallstead, "In the 1990s there were few individuals in Las Vegas working as a Concierge and even fewer who possessed the title." When Jacqueline became the first Concierge in Las Vegas in 1978, the concierge profession was flourishing in Europe but was a fairly new concept in the United States.

"As the SNHCA celebrates their 21st Anniversary it is a nice time for reflection on all that we have accomplished," says current President and 12-year board member, Debbie Brumfield. "As a young adult '21' is the age you look forward to as it designates passage into 'adulthood.' In Las Vegas '21' is a winning number. I think this could hold true of the Southern Nevada Hotel Concierge Association as well. In the past 21 years we have gone from the idea and formation of an association by the eleven amazing ladies that are our founding members to a strong and rapidly growing association of professional concierges. Over the years we have gone through considerable growth as well; we began with 11 members and now have over 160 members, we have gone from one Les Clefs d’Or, USA member to more than 60. As we continue to enjoy our associations foray into adulthood I personally look forward to watching the growth and maturity that will undoubtedly carry on as the Concierges of the SNHCA continue providing unmatched service which makes Las Vegas one of the most popular and sought after resort destinations in the world!"

The SNHCA looks forward to many many more years of serving the visitors and locals of Las Vegas.
