“This is the format I’ve been looking for,” says Fatima. “The objective, as always, is to educate and help parents and families find a better way to cope with a loved one's addiction.”
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 25, 2011
After a successful run on Los Angeles’ CBS owned, 97.1 KLSX-FM, Leyla Fatima, late of PARENTING THE ADDICT CHILD, will be joining the UStream line up to launch her new show “NO APOLOGIES,” a LIVE Internet TV show that resembles her previous radio gig with a caller-driven format. No Apologies will broadcast weekly on Sundays, beginning on Sunday, May 8th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. PST. The show will be broadcasting live from Bangkok, Thailand, where Fatima currently resides. Parenting The Addict Child's existing fan base will now reach beyond the US market to parents and families on a global scale. A few of those markets include Australia, Canada and the UK to start. Viewers can see the show as well as submit questions via Ustream’s chat feature. "No Apologies" is available only on Ustream, the live broadcast will be available for $7.99 per month, or $2.99 per show. With “No Apologies,” Leyla Fatima, who became a popular cultural figure for stirring up controversy with her liberal-minded yet unapologetic approach to parenting children of all ages with addiction on KLSX- FM’s Parenting the Addict Child and who OCWeekly described as a “Patron Saint for Parents of Drug Addicts,” is prepared to push the boundaries again. Fatima says her new format is cutting edge, combining the concept of radio and TV, live via the Internet. Her new show will cover the topics that parents raising their children with addiction need to be able to talk about and sometimes just to take a break for themselves from all of the challenges these parents face.“This is the format I’ve been looking for,” says Fatima. “The objective, as always is to educate and help parents and families find a better way to cope with a loved one's addiction.”
Fatima’s strength and sense of being unapologetic for her approach and delivery, and her experience as a seasoned veteran is what helped spawn No Apologies. "This show feels balanced and caters more to both sides of the fence. It’s geared toward families with no experience in addiction and alcoholism as well as those who live and breathe it everyday. And then there are those who just don’t know what their talking about,” Fatima adds. “That’s when the discussion gets really entertaining, hearing feedback from those armchair quarterbacks and their ridiculous point of view.”
Parenting The Addict Child received critical acclaim when it debuted on KLSX-FM Los Angeles in 2009. The radio show reached listeners in major US radio markets, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth, before CBS flipped their format to pop music, leaving Fatima and many radio hosts floundering into the world of podcasts or literally becoming extinct. Leyla has spent the past year traveling to Asia and has found the business climate in Bangkok to be much more accommodating financially for her production needs when compared to the cost of producing in Los Angeles. "With the continued advancements in technology the capacity to work from pretty much anywhere in the world is no longer considered the exception to the rule," says Fatima.
In the midst of this growing epidemic of addiction and alcoholism, there is a lack of support for millions of parents, who sometimes just need to talk about their pain and sadness, and know that they’ve been heard, as well as their successes and triumphs and coming together through laughter and camaraderie. No Apologies offers hope and inspiration and helps parents find humor amid the insanity of their lives, with a few new surprises in store! Welcome back Lady Fatima!!
