A compelling tale of human strength and courage in the face of historical events awaits readers as author Andrea Bermúdez presents The Incomplete Traveler: Diaries of a Cuban Exile. Made available through Xlibris, this poignant book tells the story of one woman’s journey as she shares the feelings of loss for her homeland and the need to adapt to life in exile.

This book is the story of Elena, her family, and her friends whose lives are interwoven with the history of the Fidel Castro revolution, along with the events that preceded it. Survival is the thread that holds the story together, as Elena faces her circumstances with humor and acceptance.

Divided into six parts, this narrative follows a chronological path. Part one presents the history of events that preceded the arrival of Castro. Part two describes the Cuban family as the axis from which all support and love must come. The third part defines what the author sees as the essence of being Cuban, giving special attention to language, religion, and music in the development of the Cuban psyche. Part four discusses the historical events that gave rise to the communist takeover of the island. Challenges to overcome in the new environment including adaptation to a new culture are presented in the fifth part. Lastly, part six talks about loss and survival and shows the main character, Elena, looking forward to her next step in life, just as her father did when he was approaching the end of his.

Written for the author’s grandchildren, The Incomplete Traveler: Diaries of a Cuban Exile intends to connect future generations of Cuban exiles to the historical and emotional roots of their ancestors. “My children and grandchildren may never get to see the Cuba of their ancestry, and I wanted very much to portray this experience for them,” the author shares.

This book will be featured at the 2011 BookExpo America in New York City, NY on May 26-28, 2011. For more information on this book, interested parties may log on to http://www.Xlibris.com.
