New York, NY (PRWEB) April 27, 2011
CodeFab is pleased to announce April 29th, 30th and May 1st as the 2011 dates for its annual not-for-profit gathering, MobileDevCamp NYC. This year the focus of the mobile technology “hackathon” event will be multi-platform/cross-platform applications, with participation from both iOS and Android developers. The event will be hosted again by AOL at their New York headquarters where they will provide free wifi, kitchen access, and conference room space. We will additionally be having a reception party welcoming all hackers on Friday April 29th sponsored by Mad.House with a live DJ, bartenders, and great food!
The event is inspired by BarCamp, SuperHappyDevHouse, and MacHack, to develop Native iOS / Android, Cross-Platform and Web-based applications for iPhones, iPads and Android Devices of all kinds. This follows the previous iPhoneDevCamp events held in Palo Alto since 2007 and in NYC since 2009. Out-of-town guests are welcome. This year’s event is sponsored by AOL, Flurry, SunGard, SimpleGeo, Time Inc., and Blipp Media to name a few. Attendees will include Apple iOS developers, Google Android developers, web developers, UI designers, and testers, all working together over the weekend.
MobileDevCamp NYC will kick off Friday night at the Mad.House space with a party and welcome address by CodeFab CEO, Alex Cone. Saturday’s talks start with a presentation by mobile analytics vendor Flurry on the state of the market, followed by a series of short sessions by tool vendors like Appcelerator and Rhomobile who will discuss cross platform web technologies and mobile apps, and prepare hackers for their weekend workshop.
Sunday will begin with a panel discussion led by Michael Prenez-Isbell, Director of Mobile Technologies at RSG Media Systems, discussing the strengths and weaknesses of cross platform approaches. He and a roundtable of industry experts will examine business models for these plans and review competitors like Appcelerator Titanium and Rhomobile, and the Apple ecosystem problem. Later in the day, competitors will exhibit their final entries from the Hackathon contest, demonstrating the weekend’s work with short, 3-minute presentations. Following the competition an awards ceremony will take place including Special Awards, which will reward values of sharing, participation, and “can do” attitude.
