Auberge Resorts today announced the appointment of Martin Nicholson as General Manager of Encantado, an Auberge Resort. Nicholson will oversee the award-winning Santa Fe property and its 65 casitas, destination spa, Terra Restaurant and The Bar at Encantado.
“Martin is well-known and respected in the hospitality industry, and we are delighted to welcome him to the Auberge family,” said Mark Harmon, Principal and Chief Executive Officer, Auberge Resorts. "His expertise will enhance the very special resort experience that Encantado has introduced to the destination of Santa Fe.”
Nicholson brings to his new position extensive experience in national and international luxury resort operations. Most recently, he served as Managing Director at The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, Calif., where he oversaw an award-winning culinary program. Prior to that, he was General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rose Hall, Jamaica, following a tenure as Vice President and General Manager at Carmel Valley Ranch in Carmel Valley, Calif. He earlier served as Managing Director at Mount Juliet Hotel, a resort in Kilkenny, Ireland, and as Vice President and Managing Director at Caneel Bay, A Rosewood Resort in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Nicholson is a graduate of Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland.
Opened in 2008, Encantado is the first-ever, full-service, five diamond luxury resort to grace the cultural mecca of Santa Fe. Set on 57 acres of rolling hills just outside of the city center in Tesuque, N.M., it offers 65 spacious casitas designed with a contemporary Southwestern aesthetic. All guest rooms and suites offer panoramic views of the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the iconic Southwestern skies that have inspired artists and visitors for centuries. Encantado’s modern-rustic restaurant, Terra, serves regionally inspired cuisine created by Esquire and Food & Wine award-winning chef Charles Dale in a distinctive setting created by renowned design firm Avro KO.
The Spa at Encantado features an innovative selection of spa and wellness services that honor the healing traditions indigenous to the region while paying tribute to Santa Fe’s contemporary appreciation of health and well-being. The 10,000-square-foot spa with 15 treatment rooms incorporates the outdoors with pools, fountains, courtyards and outdoor garden soaking tubs and showers.
This summer, Encantado launches “Into the West,” a collection of custom-tailored experiences created exclusively for guests, enabling them to explore Santa Fe’s scenic natural beauty, culture and artistic community on a deeper level.
