AuthorHouse, the leading self-publishing imprint and marketing services provider for authors around the globe, announced Thursday that it’s hosting a free book signing, featuring former ABC News anchor Carole Simpson, at the 2011 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. Simpson will sign a limited number of free copies of her autobiography “NewsLady,” which was released by AuthorHouse in November, in booth 913 starting at 2 p.m. PDT.

“It’s a privilege to host Carole, a true pioneer in the world of broadcast journalism. We’re pleased she chose AuthorHouse to bring the story of her legendary career to readers. It’s another victory for indie publishing,” said Keith Ogorek, senior vice president of marketing for Author Solutions, Inc., AuthorHouse’s parent company.

“NewsLady” takes a behind-the-scenes look at Simpson’s life, recalling the prejudices against her race and gender that made her climb to the top of her already-competitive profession all that more difficult. Called “an honest, engaging self-portrait of a woman who forever changed racial and gender dynamics in media” by Kirkus Reviews, it is also a book of “firsts”: the first woman to broadcast radio news in Chicago; the first African American female to anchor a local television newscast in the same city; the first black woman to anchor a newscast for a major network; and the first woman or minority to moderate a presidential debate, which attracted a televised audience of 91 million viewers.
