The Greeting Card Association’s (GCA) 23rd Annual LOUIE Awards committee awarded Universal Presentation Concepts (UPC) of Madison, WI, the custom display design project to present the Finalists of the 2010 LOUIE awards competition. UPC’s display, which was chosen from an impressive group of entries, will be housed on the exhibit floor of the National Stationery Show® (NSS) in May.

A dark wood and brushed aluminum system will show more than 160 nominated cards in 53 categories. Reflective of its award-winning greeting card fixture designs, the display combines elements of traditional in-store fixturing, enhanced by a creative layout and adaptation of this year’s theme: Connection – It’s in the Cards. From its design to the use of materials, UPC’s display mirrors many of today’s trends in the display industry, most notably its attention to environmentally conscious and sustainable business practices and materials. All the materials used in the booth are eco-friendly, including the flooring which is FSC certified. The display will be used for multiple years at the annual NSS to recognize the LOUIE awards history and current-year nominees. Greetings, Etc. magazine will feature the display in its annual LOUIE supplement, which appears in the magazine’s summer issue publishing in June.

UPC has been partnering with businesses to produce stunning fixtures and displays for over three decades, designing and manufacturing displays for the gift and stationery industries, as well as for many other consumer products, manufacturers and retailers. UPC designs and manufactures all of its fixturing concepts under one roof, with a full complement of design, customer service, account management, production, shipping and warehousing services. The company’s manufacturing capabilities reside in over 120,000 square feet in which all assembly, printing, fabrication, finishing and commercial case work takes place.

Dan Levine, UPC President and CEO said, “We are thrilled and honored to have been recognized and selected for this prestigious award. We look forward to meeting show attendees at the LOUIE awards booth.”

“As the annual showcase for design, visual merchandising and product trends for the greeting card and social stationery industry, the NSS is a fitting environment to house such an exquisite display,” said Patti Stracher, show manager of the National Stationery Show®.

“An integral part of the new face of the LOUIEs is a top-of-the-line, gallery-like presentation of the nominated cards. UPC’s staff expertise is stellar, and I am thrilled with the important role they are playing this year,” said Andy Meehan, LOUIE Awards Strategic Chair.
