The Institute for Financial Literacy honored FamilyMint, Inc. at their 5th Annual Conference on Financial Education in Chicago, IL with their Excellence In Financial Literacy Education (“EIFLE”) Award. FamilyMint received the “Education Program of the Year” award in the Children, Planning & Money Management category for its innovative money management tool for kids.
The Institute for Financial Literacy, is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization whose mission is to make effective financial literacy education available for everyone. Celebrating its 5th Anniversary, the EIFLE Awards were created to acknowledge innovation, dedication, and the commitment of those supporting financial literacy education efforts nationwide.
“In these uncertain economic times, financial literacy has never been more important,” said Leslie E. Linfield, Executive Director and Founder of the Institute for Financial Literacy. “The EIFLE Awards are one of the most sought after and prestigious awards in the industry and serve as a testament to their recipients’ hard work and accomplishments. These individuals and organizations are assuring financial literacy education is accessible for Americans of all walks of life.”
FamilyMint is an online personal financial management (PFM) and educational tool for kids designed to start forming the right financial behaviors in an interactive, fun and simple way while emphasizing the importance of saving, setting and achieving goals. FamilyMint allows children ages 6 to 16 to track their money and goals online while the parent holds the money and acts as the banker. FamilyMint is a great way to discuss finances with the entire family and educate kids of all ages about proper money management, setting the foundation of saving that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
We’re so honored to accept this award,” said Jeff Eusebio, FamilyMint CEO and co-founder. “FamilyMint exists to help kids appreciate money and the EIFLE award is a crowning achievement. Our goal was to develop an intuitive tool that parents can easily work into busy schedules and that visually shows kids in a fun way how their money can work for them. What’s different about FamilyMint is that the child is in the driver’s seat organizing their money, establishing goals and working to achieve them. Parents are the bankers and approve or deny transactions. Plus they can automate allowance, which is a huge relief to many, and add interest payments to motivate the kids even further.”
FamilyMint is now also partnering with credit unions and other organizations to assist in educating, attracting and retaining young members. FamilyMint is the only budgeting and goal setting youth program available where kids learn by managing their own money in a safe, virtual environment.
FamilyMint has a mission to help kids appreciate money in new and innovate ways. Its online money management tool for kids was released in 2010 and available in both a Free and a Premium version. FamilyMint also provides ongoing financial literacy tips and ideas for parents and kids through an online blog, weekly email Snippet, and additional online resources.
