Appia Launches Mobile Performance Based Advertising Network Across 200 Countries

Appia, the world’s largest open app marketplace, today announces that it has launched a new performance based advertising network for any app developers who want to guarantee ROI from their mobile advertising. The new service, launching today at the 2011 AppNation conference in San Francisco, gives developers a ‘pay per download’ opportunity, enabling developers to directly increase app downloads and only pay for results.

Appia’s new ad network enables developers to promote their apps by targeting ads by country and platform to promote their apps; it supports Android, iOS, Java, Symbian, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, and Palm; and developers only pay for actual downloads of their apps. Developers will now be able to target consumers across Appia’s distribution network, which delivered 22 million downloads in March. The network now reaches more than 200 million mobile subscribers in over 200 countries. Appia recently announced a partnership to power the Opera Mobile Store for more than 100 million users, as well as with Telcel, Mexico’s largest operator, to power the Ideas Appstore for Telcel’s 64 million subscribers.

Appia’s performance based advertising network is directly integrated into the Appia Developer Program, making it quick and easy for Appia developer partners to set up and run pay-per-download campaigns to promote their apps. Once an application has been uploaded to the the Appia developer portal, the developer simply sets the bid price they want to pay per download, chooses the geographies they want to target, and selects a payment method. Online reporting shows campaign activity broken down by platform, device and geography; giving developers insight into where their campaign is driving app downloads.

“We have found the quality of traffic via Appia to be very high relative to other mobile advertising channels and have been very pleased with our actual cost per registration across Android and Blackberry Platforms,” said Jo Ryall, Marketing Manager for North America at Flirtomatic. “For most developers, if you’re not in the top 25 search results for your category, your app has little chance for success. Appia’s new program gives us greater control over marketing and distribution, so we can reach new users and drive downloads more effectively.”

Prior to today’s launch, Appia’s performance based advertising service has been in private beta since February but has already delivered high value sponsored downloads to trial partners including Flirtomatic and Blue Lion.
